CAUSES
In our first year of operation, Still Got Game has hosted a variety of programming and fund-raising events designed by our Board of Directors to help make a difference in a number of communities across the United States.
STEM … Proceeds raised during the Still Got Game fund-raising poker tournament were donated to the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and the city’s New Tech Collinwood High School. The proceeds were used to provide additional resources for the school’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) efforts.
SOCIAL JUSTICE … Still Got Game invited members of the Los Angeles Police Department to participate in a free youth baseball clinic in Encino, CA. During the clinic, the police officers helped former Major League Baseball players conduct various instructional stations and the men in blue also participated in a show-and-tell and question and answer session with the youth participants.
SUSTAINABILITY … A grant from Still Got Game to the Players for the Planet non-profit, will help the latter fund programs that support its mission to actively promote efforts to help keep our planet green. Players for the Planet plans and conducts eco-friendly activities around the world that are designed to foster global change and unite current and former professional athletes with like-minded volunteers.
